The Generation IV international Forum (GIF) has led international collaborative efforts to develop six next generation nuclear energy systems, such as Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor (SFR), Lead-cooled Fast Reactor (LFR), Gas-cooled Fast Reactor (GFR), Molten Salt Reactor (MSR), Supercritical Water-cooled Reactor (SCWR), and Very High Temperature Reactor (VHTR), which have superior characteristics for the Safety and Reliability, Economics, Sustainability, Proliferation Resistance and Physical Protection. Some systems are already in the Demonstration Phase and the commercialization of the system in 2030s, which is the target of GIF, comes into sight.

The SFR system arrangement Phase II became effective on 16 February 2016 by signatures of CEA, JAEA, KAERI, USDOE, and Rosatom, and was extended for additional 10 years. Collaboration of GIF SFR is growing adding new reactor concepts and related RDs. In 2015, a project arrangement on SFR System Integration and Assessment (SIA) has been signed by 7 members : China, EU, France, Japan, Korea, Russia and US. In the SIA project, RD needs from the SFR design will be shown to the RD project, and RD results from each RD project will be integrated into the designs.

The 1999 JNC International Forum on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Nuclear Non-Proliferation Technology, a continuation of the annual International Forum on Nuclear Non-proliferation sponsored by its predecessor organization PNC (Power Reactor and Nuclear Fuel Development Corporation), was held February 22-23, 1999 in Tokyo, Japan. About 380 people from government, industry, and academia involved in nuclear technology and issues attended the forum. A distinguished group of speakers participated in the forum sessions including highly respected technology and policy experts from France, Russia, and the United States. Session themes were: (1) Advanced Nuclear Technology for Peaceful Purposes and Nuclear Non-Proliferation, (2) Transparency Improvements in Nuclear Technology through the Disposition of Excess Nuclear Weapons Plutonium. This document provides a record of speeches and discussion which have no written documentation and summarizes presented papers as appropriate. Full papers prepared by the presenters can be found in The Proceedings of the 1999 JNC International Forum on the Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy.

The 3rd international forum on nuclear non-proliferation was held on 23-25 February 1998 at the Nadao hall of the Shin-kasumigaseki building, in Tokyo, Japan. The forum was organized by the nuclear non-proliferation study group. It was the goal of the nuclear non-proliferation study group to create a forum program that would be both interesting and informative. After some examination, the study group felt that the topics of most interest were the pursuit of the compatibility of the peaceful use of nucleare nergy and the maintenance of the non-proliferation regime. Another area receiving much attention as of late is the disposition of excess weapons plutonium. To address these areas, the forum was divided into three sessions and a special full day session which was devoted completely to the plutonium disposition issue. Technology of EB crosslinking has been widely used for the production of the car components such as tires, heat resistant cables, and interior foams. This technology caused new research seeds of biodegradable lens, spray coating of Washi fibril, 3D gel dosimeter for cancer therapy, and so on. The technology of graft polymerization is applied to the production of separator membrane for button-shaped battery and ammonia-gas removal filter for LSI facility. The grafting can develop the high performance adsorbents which collect the uranium in sea water, scandium in hot spring water, and cesium in drinking water. The dissemination of radiation technology in open institute and forum plays important roles to promote the technology transfer of these technology seeds.
